I am Molly Stutz, a sports photographer based here in the great state of Colorado. I have been fortunate enough to merge my passion for photography with my love of sports. As a former athlete myself, I always loved getting a good picture of myself at the end of the day, so I make it my goal to capture the most electrifying picture of athletes. 

Being based in Colorado isn’t just a location for me, but one of the many elements I have enjoyed about being a photographer. Whether it be those beautiful Rocky mountains in the background or those magical sunsets we get here, I love the state in all aspects. For my whole life I have had a rooted knowledge when it comes to sports. I have a great understanding of the rules of most sports. And if it’s a sport I am not familiar with, I’m not afraid to learn more about it. 

I am not just about taking pictures, but I also about building a relationship with the teams take pictures for. For me, it’s not just about showing up to the event and leaving. It’s about knowing who I’m taking pictures for. I put in an effort to know the coaches, the players, and their families. As a former athlete and coach, it is about understanding the dynamics, personalities, and stories behind the pictures. 

When I was twelve years old I picked up my first camera while watching my sister's lacrosse game and that is where I first learned that this was something I wanted to be part of my life. My sophomore year I took photo class and met my friend and mentor, Megan Kling. By my senior year I was editor and chief of her yearbook. She taught me a lot of what goes into being a great photographer and has been one of my greatest supporters in my life. 

For almost six years, I played lacrosse as a goalie for Columbine High School and True Colorado. And before that for ten years I was a swimmer at Columbine and a few other summer leagues. I know what goes into the mental side of being an athlete. I also started coaching last year and have learned the transition of becoming a coach. I have learned what goes into both sides and I have enjoyed both sides. That expertise and special knowledge is what gives my photography a unique edge
